Victory after Victory for the Korean People's Army

John Paul Cupp, Chairman of the Songun Politics Study Group (USA) and the US Solidarity Committee to Support the AINDF and the south Korean People's Struggle

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Korean People's Army, a revolutionary army inheriting the rich traditions of the anti-Japanese Guerrillas as led by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung, and the pillar of socialism in north Korea.

Realizing the need for the line of independence in keeping with the tenets of the Juche idea, the great leader placed priority in the existence of a strong self-reliant defense. He put forward the slogan that each KPA soldier should be "a match for a hundred foes."

Winning victory against two imperialist powers within the confines of one lifetime under the leadership of the great leader and the Worker's Party of Korea, the KPA become a strong invincible force and never looked back.

Today the KPA is the pillar of socialist construction in Korea in keeping with the trend of the times and the line, strategy and tactics of the Songun era. Marshal Kim Jong Il put forward the notion of "placing priority in military affairs in all circumstances" as part of an overall program to stay the course paved by the great leader, and to defend socialism and Korea at all costs.

Realizing the ever-militaristic nature of US imperialism in our era and refusing to compromise matters of principle and national self-determination has been the lesson built on contrasting Marshal Kim Jong Il's wisdom with that of the collapse of socialism in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.

This year's joint New Year's editorial "
Usher in a great heyday of Songun Korea full of confidence in victory!" clearly demonstrates the optimism of the Korean people in having a strong army to defend their socialist gains.

Having visited north Korea this past year, I can personally attest to the strong ideological preparedness of the KPA coupled with the progressive role it plays in building a number of public works projects and harvesting rice and corn.

No army in the world compares to the popular character of the KPA, and its invincibility and determination the US imperialists are advised to remember are second to none.
